Posted by admin under Latest Mobile on Wednesday Sep 8, 2010

Nokia is reportedly going to unveil its E7 touchscreen smartphone at Nokia World 2010 next week.

Those attending the event in London on September 14 and 15 will be amongst the first to see the phone’s four-inch touchscreen and find out if it will run on Symbian^3 or Meego.

The Nokia E7, which is also thought to be the Nokia N9 and a successor to the N97, N97 Mini or Nokia E72, and will join the Nokia N8 in the battle win back ground from the likes of HTC, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and Apple.

It is expected to have an aluminium body, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, four-inch touchscreen and an eight-megapixel camera with dual LED flash.

It’s likely to have the Symbian^3 operating system – Nokia’s Head of Mobile Solutions Anssi Vanjoki has previously said that Symbian is the best platform for phones and that Meego will run on tablets.

The Nokia E7 is expected to be released in November, with the N8 likely to ship at the end of the month.

It’s not known how much the Nokia E7 will cost, the N8 is being offered for £429 SIM-free and as part of a £35-a-month T-Mobile Pay Monthly contract on pre-order on the Nokia site.

Nokia may well offer more competitive Christmas deals over the next few months in a bid to really challenge the dominance of the iPhone 4 and Android smartphones, such as the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S.

The internal memory will be 8/16GB, accompanied by a microSD slot, while the camera at the back will be an 8MP unit with LED flash and capable of 720p video recording.

A front 3MP unit will also be included, as for the input, it will be handled by a virtual QWERTY keyboard, accompanied by gaming controls when using the gaming feature.
